The MLS Committee and the MLS Network are inclusive of all levels of experience, and we welcome and encourage all Medical Laboratory Scientists across the world to join us. We all have a diverse background, and we believe that respecting each other’s differences and sharing our collective experience and knowledge will ultimately benefit the entire cytometry community.

The MLS Committee is comprised of a core group of experienced flow cytometrists that provide a roadmap to all Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS) to help with their career as a flow cytometry technologist. This core group provides educational resources and practical guidance in various flow cytometry applications. The committee also provides mentoring opportunities to help medical laboratory scientists in their career path as a recognized flow cytometry professional. We also recognize the importance of collaboration and actively seek partnerships with other committees that share our commitment to excellence, representation, and removing barriers for everyone involved in clinical flow cytometry.

Requirements for joining the MLS Committee would include attending monthly meetings with active participation in the goals for the MLS committee. The MLS Network is comprised of mostly technical personnel with all levels of experience who are interested in strengthening their support through fellow technologists. Within this network, laboratorians will be able to acquire updated information to follow best practices in flow cytometry and new developments, share experiences, gain knowledge and tips for trouble shooting, and other information which helps their laboratory to remain on the cutting edge while ensuring regulatory compliance.

As a member of the MLS Committee, you will also have access to our communication platform “Slack”, which will be sent to you after joining the MLS Network. Requirements for joining the MLS Network committee include the following:

• Desire to learn more about best practices in flow cytometry and take it back to your lab. You can just listen or actively participate and share your experiences or concerns with other MLS’s.
• The level of involvement is entirely up to you…this is YOUR safe forum where you will be recognized as a professional cytometrist who is trying to elevate their lab to the next level!
• Applicants are not required to have ICCS membership, but it is highly recommended. Interested in joining us? You can find the MLS application here
